Moving To An Apartment Made Easy

Friday, May 21st, 2010

When you are moving into an apartment you may find that you face more challenges than the average mover.  There are many things that you will need to know when you are moving into an apartment and if you find these things out early, the transition will be exactly the way you want.

When you are packing to move into an apartment you want to pack with purpose.  If you have to climb any stairs to get to your apartment you will not want to carry moving boxes that weigh a great amount.  This is why it is important to think about where you will be moving your things and make sure that you pack accordingly.

If you are moving from a larger space to an apartment you may need to downscale your stuff to make it work in your new space.  This can be challenging for many people and you may want to begin the down-scaling process as soon as possible.  You can donate items to charity, or even have a garage sale and this can help you make some extra money.  If you donate to charity this can be claimed as a tax right off and this can help you save money each year.

Online moving boxes are a great way to simply order the amount of boxes you need online and they are delivered right to your door.  This can be a very easy way to have your moving boxes in a very short time frame and you do not have to go out and try to determine what you need from a store.  It is important to take a good look at all of the things that you are going to move and make sure that you have all of the boxes that you need.

You will need to call the apartment complex and find out what the rules and regulations are.  There may only be certain times that you can move into a building and you want to find out about this.  You may also want to inquire about a service elevator you can use to move so that you are not tying up an elevator that is meant for residents use.  There may also be a loading and unloading area that is expected to use to unload your moving boxes.

When you are moving into an apartment there are many things that you will need to know before you begin the moving process.  If you do all of the necessary things, you will have a great move that will be problem free.

Moving With Pets

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Moving with a pet may have more details than you can imagine.  There are many things that you need to do to get your pet prepared for a move.  A move can be a very traumatic experience for an array of pets and you want to make sure that you take all of the necessary steps to prevent them from having a hard time with the transition.

Pets get used to an environment and routine and they know what to expect each day.  If this gets interrupted you can see behavioral or other problems in your pet. This is why it is important that each pet has their own moving boxes so that all of their familiar items are packed and they can be immediately accessed from your new place.

Your pet may be very curious about all of the moving boxes and if you are moving a short distance away, you may want to consider having your pet stay at a family members home, or a daycare while you are in the transition phase.  This will help you empty the moving boxes with your pets belongings and help you to have your pet ready for their return to the new house.

Cats and dogs may be in the way during a move and this is another reason you may want to board them during this time.  You will also need to keep the doors open to move things in and out and you do not want your cat or dog to escape.  This is especially true if you have just moved to a new place. Your pet may not know their surroundings yet and they can easily find themselves in trouble.

Other pets need special care when transporting.  If you have any animals that need an aquarium you will want to make sure that you gain the knowledge to transport them safely.  Fish are very vulnerable during a move and can sometimes go into shock if they are not handled very delicately.  You can talk to your local veterinarian about how to do this properly; there should also be an array of resources on the internet that can help you to transport your pet safely.

Pets need special care when moving.  If you assign each pet moving boxes, it can help keep everything organized and easy to find when you get into your new home.  If you do a little research you can easily find out how to move your pet safely.

Moving The Elderly

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

There comes a point in many people’s lives when a move is a necessary event.  If you have an elderly relative that needs to move for any reason it can be very devastating to the person involved.  Special plans are needed during this type of move and there are many things you can do to help make this a good transition.

Many elderly people are very attached to their things and this can be a hard hurdle to overcome if you are helping this person move.  If they need to move to a smaller location it may be impossible to take everything with them.  You may be able to help them decide which things are most important to them.  If they are very stubborn and it would be emotionally devastating, you may want to consider a storage facility where you can use moving boxes to store some of the things that they have acquired over the years.

Packing and moving may be a challenge for someone that is older and you can easily purchase moving boxes online.  This is a great way to have all of the moving boxes that you need in one place and you can also choose from many different sizes to accommodate everything in the home.

If you come in and start packing the moving boxes, you may make the elderly person feel out of control.  It may be better to let this person delegate things for you and they can tell you what goes in which of the moving boxes.  You do not want to make this a devastating experience, especially if the move is unwanted.

Time is the key factor when it comes to moving an older person.  It can take several weeks, or even months for them to sort through things and this is a time to be very supportive.  If you provide moving boxes and other moving materials, they may begin to get the process started and you can help from there.  A gentle approach can make all of the difference in the world and you want to collaborate with other family members to make this happen.

Moving an elderly person does not have to be an ordeal and if you take the right approach you will make it easier for everyone involved.  Having moving boxes available will help to make things go faster and it can take sometime for everything to get accomplished.

You’re moving into a brand new home and the excitement level is high. New beginnings in fresh spaces  is what brought me to the profession of professional organization, having spent my childhood moving with high frequency. I learned naturally how to stay organized and harmonize my space through this constant flow of transition in my early life. Years later, running my own professional organizing and move management company, I cannot understate the importance of packing your precious life possessions in sturdy, well-made boxes. Getting your life moved in one piece cannot happen without this important tool.

I’ve seen people in the last-minute fluster of a move pour all of their possessions into various boxes, only to find that they are moving a bunch of unwanted clutter from their old home into their fresh new space. In order to avoid this chaos, here’s a few helpful tips on how to prepare before the MovingBox Guy arrives at the door with your wonderful new boxes. These tips will help you assess what you have, make decisions about what you need and move forward into a newly harmonized home.

Here are 4 steps which make up the natural flow of finding order so that you may harmonize prepare to pack what you want and leave behind the clutter. Gather—Gathering is like taking an inventory. You gather all of something so you can see just how much you’re dealing with. For example, you may have plates in the kitchen cabinets, diningroom hutch, and your storage facility in your building. Bring all of those plates into one workspace.  Sort—Sorting is separating. You sort to break down the job and find out exactly what you have. Sort paper either chronologically or alphabetically and sort clutter by color, individual or type of object. For example, if you have a ton of vases, you may sort by color, size or value, depending on your priorities. Purge—Purging frees people of chaos. Many people are reluctant to purge, but feel a weight lifted when they do. Put all of your donations items into one pile and throw the rest in a trash bag to be tossed.  These simple steps will ensure an organized packing process and, ultimately, a clutter-free unpack that will leave your new home feeling harmonized.

Once your boxes are packed, you want to make sure you know where everything is. Label all boxes on the sides, not the top, so if they are stacked, you can clearly see what room a box came from or is going to. Also, if a box has fragile items packed in it, make sure it is a labeled as such. As the boxes are being packed write which room the box was packed in on the label to ensure easy unpacking at your destination. You may further specify labeling by putting storage unit in which items have come and to which they will return (ie Dining Room: Hutch: Left shelf: Right).

With sturdy materials from the MovingBox Guy and an efficient, stress-free packing process, you’re on your way to having a newly harmonized home before you even walk through the door of your new
