Packing Tips To Help You Pack Like A Pro

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

When you need to move from one home to another, packing is the most important part of moving. It is essential that you have plenty of folding moving boxes in all different shapes and sizes. Be sure to get all of the packing supplies ahead of time. This will save you time when it is time for the actual move. To help you start packing like a pro, there are some important tips that you need to know.

1. Make a list of the packing supplies that will be needed for the move. This list should include small, medium and large boxes, packing paper, packing tape, black marker, moving blankets, dolly and anything else that you feel may be needed. Always get these things before the day of the move so that there is extra time to get more if needed.

2. Make moving plans ahead of time. Decide which rooms to pack first and make a list of the order the rooms will be packed. Also, plan and make arrangements for any rental trucks or anything else that will be needed to move. This will be needed once everything is already packed. Don’t wait until the last minute to plan a move because problems will occur if you do.

3. Always make an inventory of the items that will be packed. If there are any valuables, make a note of them and the boxes they are in. To avoid any problems or valuables getting broken, make sure that you handle and pack these for yourself, instead of letting someone else do it for you.

4. Before packing anything, be sure to clean everything. Also be sure to put items into the box carefully. The heavier items should go on the bottom of the box and the lightest on top. This will prevent things from being smashed during the move. For any breakable items, be sure to use bubble wrap or packing paper to keep them from being broke. Also, be sure to label each box fragile if there are breakable items in it.

5. For any large items that will be moved, be sure to cover them if they can be easily ripped or scratched whenever possible. For any that can’t be covered, use moving blankets to help get them out of the house without being damaged. Always pack electronics using something to prevent them from being damaged.

By remembering and using these packing tips, you will soon find yourself packing folding moving boxes like a pro. It takes time, careful wrapping and careful placement in the boxes to successfully pack your house for moving. Don’t wait until the last minute to start packing because if you do, then you can bet that something will get damaged or broken.

Family Moving Tips To Help Your Move Much Easier

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Moving one person is stressful enough, but when you have to move an entire family, especially if there are children, this can be very stressful. The best way to be sure the move goes smoothly is to be organized and be sure to know ahead of time where to buy moving boxes. Get your family involved in the move as much as possible and find a way to keep the ones busy that can’t help. To help make your family move much easier, there are some important moving tips that will be helpful.

One: Make packing plans ahead of time. Go through the whole house and determine which rooms will be packed first and which will be packed last. Having a list of the rooms and the order to pack them will make packing much easier on everyone.

Two: Let your children pack a bag with the things that they want to take with them for the trip. Be sure to have them pack blankets, extra clothes and any special toys they want. This will help to keep them busy during the moving process.

Three: Make all necessary arrangements ahead of time such as hotels during the drive to the new home, truck rental; buy the needed moving supplies and many other things. The more arrangements that can be made ahead of time, the less stressful the move will be when the time comes.

Four: Before moving into your new home make arrangements for electricity, water, phone, cable and anything else that needs to be hooked up. This will ensure that your family is as comfortable as possible right away in your new home.

Five: Assign each family members different jobs for sorting, packing, loading and any other jobs that need to be done to get moved. The more people you have in the family working at different jobs, the easier things will get done without a lot of fighting.

Six: Make arrangements ahead of time for moving pets. Talk to your vet if needed for advice on doing this safely and so that the animals are the most comfortable during the move.

Seven: Don’t forget to pack a suitcase with the necessary daily items that will be needed. Moving usually means living out of a suitcase for a few days, so make a list of the things needed and be sure to pack all these things ahead of time so they don’t accidentally get packed in a box.

These family moving tips will definitely help to make your move much easier. Just remember them and use as many of them as possible. Always remember that the most important part of moving is the packing supplies, so know where to buy moving boxes and other supplies so when the time comes, you won’t waste a lot of time looking for these things.

It may be getting time for your next move and even if you are moving a matter of miles, it can prove to be a challenging experience.  There are many things you can do to prepare for a move and if you start the preparation early, you will thank yourself later.

You want to start by getting your moving plans organized.   You may want to determine what your budget is and if you will need a moving company to help you with your move.  You may want to do it yourself and this may also take some planning if you do not have a truck.

Planning early is the key to success and you want to make sure that as soon as you decide upon a move that you begin the planning process.  You may want to call around and get quotes for all of the things that you are going to need.  You may be surprised to find out how much of your shopping can be done online.  Moving boxes can be easily purchased online and this can save you a tremendous amount of time.  You will simply order the amount of moving boxes that you need and they arrive and you are ready to begin your packing.

When it comes to scheduling the actual move and you are moving a short distance, you may want to enlist in the help of family and friends to help you with this.  Your circle of friends can be a great help during a move and you will be able to get much more done in a shorter time frame.

If you are unable to move your home without assistance you may want to consider hiring a moving company to help you with your move.  Often if you are using a moving company for a short distance this can keep costs down and make this service available to you.  You may want to contact several companies and get some quotes before you make any decisions.  You also want to focus on a moving company’s reputation.  Even if you purchase good moving boxes, if the mover is not responsible your stuff can end up broken.

Moving can be an exciting journey and if you plan ahead you will spend more time enjoying this time.  Take care of the details like moving boxes early and you will be able to complete your move in a timely manner.

You’re moving into a brand new home and the excitement level is high. New beginnings in fresh spaces  is what brought me to the profession of professional organization, having spent my childhood moving with high frequency. I learned naturally how to stay organized and harmonize my space through this constant flow of transition in my early life. Years later, running my own professional organizing and move management company, I cannot understate the importance of packing your precious life possessions in sturdy, well-made boxes. Getting your life moved in one piece cannot happen without this important tool.

I’ve seen people in the last-minute fluster of a move pour all of their possessions into various boxes, only to find that they are moving a bunch of unwanted clutter from their old home into their fresh new space. In order to avoid this chaos, here’s a few helpful tips on how to prepare before the MovingBox Guy arrives at the door with your wonderful new boxes. These tips will help you assess what you have, make decisions about what you need and move forward into a newly harmonized home.

Here are 4 steps which make up the natural flow of finding order so that you may harmonize prepare to pack what you want and leave behind the clutter. Gather—Gathering is like taking an inventory. You gather all of something so you can see just how much you’re dealing with. For example, you may have plates in the kitchen cabinets, diningroom hutch, and your storage facility in your building. Bring all of those plates into one workspace.  Sort—Sorting is separating. You sort to break down the job and find out exactly what you have. Sort paper either chronologically or alphabetically and sort clutter by color, individual or type of object. For example, if you have a ton of vases, you may sort by color, size or value, depending on your priorities. Purge—Purging frees people of chaos. Many people are reluctant to purge, but feel a weight lifted when they do. Put all of your donations items into one pile and throw the rest in a trash bag to be tossed.  These simple steps will ensure an organized packing process and, ultimately, a clutter-free unpack that will leave your new home feeling harmonized.

Once your boxes are packed, you want to make sure you know where everything is. Label all boxes on the sides, not the top, so if they are stacked, you can clearly see what room a box came from or is going to. Also, if a box has fragile items packed in it, make sure it is a labeled as such. As the boxes are being packed write which room the box was packed in on the label to ensure easy unpacking at your destination. You may further specify labeling by putting storage unit in which items have come and to which they will return (ie Dining Room: Hutch: Left shelf: Right).

With sturdy materials from the MovingBox Guy and an efficient, stress-free packing process, you’re on your way to having a newly harmonized home before you even walk through the door of your new
